Island Vibe
 Imagine paradise unfound, idyllic lazy days under cloudless blue skies, dolphins swimming to and fro and whales basking in the peacefulness.
Of course there is still the opportunity to join in the various activities we offer which allows you the rare combination of feeling totally relaxed while having a wild time.
The location for starters is enough to grasp anyone's attention (and breath) being situated on a sand dune we not only overlook both sea and beach for 270 degrees but literally live on it.

The Lodge
|
Right on the beach in the surfer's mecca of South Africa.
 And we've enhanced the look out potential with three stunning wooden decks, perfectly located to have either private sunbathing or very social get-togethers.
The actual living quarters has been renovated from our family home and still holds the comfort, ease and familiarity of the family. We have however brightened up each room with vivid colours and included an ever popular bar which is bound to keep you twisting and partying until all hours.

 All rooms have excellent views and those camping have the pleasure of doing so on the panoramic lawn overlooking the beach.
We provide full self-catering facilities, plus fires every evening for braais. But best of all we cater for you too - our famous potjie meals for only R20 per person have been widely acknowledged, and we do superb fish and chicken braais with salads, rolls and baked potatoes.
Occasionally we provide the salads and rolls and everyone joins in for a "bring-and-braai". And of course most times these meals are accompanied with the special punch we concoct. A mere R15 to drink as much as you want and we guarantee you a night you'll never remember.

 Island Vibe is right at Phantom's corner and Kitchen Windows, two surf spots enjoyed by beginner and pro. Boards and wetsuits are available from the backpackers, and one of us is bound to be able to give you a tip or two if needed. For those who NEED to surf other main spots like Supertubes or Seal Point, our "Vibe Van" is always ready to please you.
Supers can also be reached via a leisurely stroll on the beach (or by putting the thumb out).
The "Vibe Van" never seems to stop buzzing up and down, so theres always a lift to or from somewhere to anywhere.

 We offer a couple of regular trips, namely to the wind-free waterfall which has a refreshing mountain pool and a vertigo unfriendly jump of 16m.
Also the flying fox gives some good laughs.
Outings to St Francis Bay can also provide entertainment for the nonsurfer. Its a wonderful open beach for long walks, games of cricket, frisbee or merely relaxation. A braai to round it all off and we reckon you would have had a funfilled time.
We have an interesting bird sanctuary close by for those who are interested in the indigenous birdlife of South Africa. Or "Vibe Van" can plod into the farm areas for the afternoon, stopping at typical SA motels for drinks and lunch.

 The longest trip we offer is a days outing to Addo elephant park which includes a delicious picnic/braai and close ups of the big, grey eli.
In J'bay itself 2 hour beach horserides on the wilder side of the coast are perfect for the knowledged rider.
For those of you who actually want to experience closer affiliations with the sea deepsea fishing or scuba diving can both be arranged.
And then for the action orientated (or frustrated) person a good game of paintball combat could be the answer.

 Plus there are beautiful nature walks in nearby reserves or black water tubing down the Storms River.
All in all we certainly hope to provide you with a memorable stay.
Our backpackers is small so as not to lose our intimacy with each of you that pops in to stay and we would like you to think of us as family too.
