George, in the heart of the Southern Cape's Garden Route, situated at the foot of the magnificent Outeniqua Mountains, amidst evergreen forest and breathtaking landscapes is one of South Africa's most unspoilt areas.

Only five minutes away from miles of white sandy beaches where you can watch the whales and dolphins frolic in clear Indian Ocean waters.

Ten minutes drive further to an array of serene lakes where watersport enthusiasts enjoy scuba diving, boardsailing, canoeing, ferry trips, angling - whatever your heart desire.

George is home to the splendid Fancourt golf course, and other biking, horse riding, hang gliding and a never-ending number of interesting hiking trails.

The Outeniqua Choo Choe, South Africans last mixed steam train, operates from George on a daily basis to Knysna, taking the visitor through unbelievable forest, ocean, mountain and lake scenes.

The barren Little Karoo, stark contrast to the luscious green of George, with the Cango Caves, Ostrich, Cheetah and Crocodile farms, and Karoo Winelands is less than an hour's drive away. Just as near are coastal towns like the historic Mosselbay, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.
