8 Day Wilderness Adventure

Cape Town along the Garden Route

8 Day Cape Town and Garden Route Wilderness Adventure including:

Mountain Biking, Great White Shark Viewing, Bungi Jumps, Game Viewing and Wine Tour.

This exciting new concept is an action packed adventure and a "must-do" for all thrill seekers.

Stage highlights:
The tour starts and finishes in Cape Town and takes you along the famously scenic Garden Route. The itinerary has something for everyone. None of the activities require previous experience and almost all of the activities have varying degrees of difficulty to choose from.

The menu is of high standard and can be adapted to cater for any dietary preferences and includes freshly caught seafood.

Our itinerary has been carefully planned to ensure that road time is kept to a minimum, allowing plenty of time to relax, partake in activities and enjoy the places we visit.

Stage duration:8 days

Day 1:-- Cape Town

After arrival at Cape Town International Airport, a quick 20-minute transfer takes us to our hotel close to the city's V&A Waterfront. The day is left to use as you wish.

Stage highlights:
Options to spend the day are as follows:

A visit to the famous Robin Island Prison, where Nelson Mandela was held.
Take the cable car up Table Mountain.
A half day trip into the townships to get an idea of how the majority of South Africans live.
Visit the shops and partake in the festivities at the Waterfront.

Visit one of the beaches.

Day 2 - Cape Point and Peninsula Tour

This is a full Cape Peninsula tour. We follow the Altlantic coast past Clifton, Camps Bay and Llandudno to the fishing village of Hout Bay. Here we will do a half hour scenic boat cruise to visit an impressive seal colony (own cost of R 30.00)

From Hout Bay it's over the Constantiaberg Mountains to Soetwater, where we begin our optional cycle trip with a total distance of 24km ending in the Cape Point Nature Reserve, where we will serve a buffet-style picnic lunch.

We will then continue on to Cape Point, where you can choose to climb the hill to the lighthouse or take a funicular. There is also a half hour cliff top hike from Cape Point to the Cape of Good Hope - the south-western most point of the African continent. You can also take the bus for this stretch.

On our return home we will visit a rare colony of African penguins at Boulders Beach in False Bay. We then follow the road past the southern suburbs back to Cape Town. (B&L)

Day 3 - Mossel Bay

Depart from Cape Town and drive along N2 towards Swellendam, heading for Mossel Bay where we have time to visit The Diaz Museum, the Post Office Tree and other attractions of Mossel Bay. Late afternoon drive back towards Albertinia on the way to a Sunset BIG 5 Game Drive at the Garden Route Game Lodge. Dinner and Jacuzzi under the stars before overnighting at the Santos Express on the beach at Mossel Bay. (B&L)

Day 4 - Oudtshoorn

Depart from Mossel Bay and drive over the spectacular Robinson Pass on the way to Oudtshoorn. Spend the day at the Cango Caves; ride ostriches at the Cango Ostrich Farm and view Cheetah’s, Crocodiles and many other cats at the Crocodile Farm. Overnight in Wilderness at the Fairy Knowe lodge, where we have the option of canoeing on the lagoon spotting 200 different species of birds. (B&D)

Day 5 - Plettenberg Bay

Depart Wilderness and drive to George. Option of catching the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe steam train to Knynsa or going canoeing on the river. Thereafter we visit World’s highest Bungy at Bloukrantz (plenty of time to jump for those thrill seekers) as well as walk the hanging bridge over Storms River Mouth. Overnight at Stanley Island (S.A’s only privately owned island) which includes half an hour champagne cruise. Dinner at own expense this evening in Plettenberg Bay. Optional extra of gliding effortlessly with qualified pilot over Plettenberg beaches spotting dolphins and whales. (B)

Overcome your fear and jump 211 metres attached to a rubber band.

Day 6 - Swellendam

Depart Plettenberg Bay and explore secluded castles at Noetzie. Visit Knysna heads and explore Knysna. Thereafter we have a tour of an aloe factory outside and overnight at the Buffelsjagts Dam outside Swellendam with the option of going on the longest foefie - slide in Africa! (B&D)

Day 7 - Cape Town

Depart Swellendam and follow the coastal route towards Hermanus. There is time for an optional extra of Shark Cage Diving if any one so wishes. Visit the beer brewery (plenty of tasting!). Thereafter we explore Hermanus including whale watching (in season) and wine tasting at Hamilton Russell. Return to Cape Town late afternoon via the stunning False Bay coastline where hopefully we’ll see more whales or dolphins. (B)

Day 8 - Depart Cape Town

Have a relaxing morning in Cape Town doing some last minute shopping etc before taking the transfer back to the airport for our flight home on which everyone will sleep every minute of the way. (B)
